CHUNGKING EXPRESS

The first film I watched this year was Chungking Express written and directed by Kar Wai Wong. I enjoy his films and want to try to watch all of his. So next on the list is 2046 and finish watching Days of Being Wild. Chungking Express is composed of two different stories, each with a romance involving a policeman.

In the first story He Qiwu girlfriend, May, of 5 years broke up with him on April 1 and every day from April 1 he buys a tin of pineapple with an expiration date of May 1. He buys and eats the pineapple until May 1, his birthday, in hopes she will come back by then. On May 1 he meets another woman at a bar, he is looking for romance but her not so much.

The second story involves Cop 663 dealing with a recent break-up from a flight attendant. He often talks to teddy bears and other objects in his apartment-consoles himself. He meets a girl named Faye who is a new worker at his favorite snack bar, she falls secretly in love with him and he doesn’t realize it. By the time he realizes her feelings for him it’s too late, she has left for California so she can see the world before settling down. Faye comes back, she is now a flight attendant, only find that Cop 663 has bought the snack bar. They discuss how she stood him up on the night he asked her out. Their future remains unknown.

December

Hiya!

I headed to Penticton for 10 days for the holidays & got back in Vancouver yesterday. Enjoyed my time but was pretty sick for 6 days so my trip felt short.

>Horses had a ball..didn’t do much with it.

>New “Romp Sculpture” on Okanagan Beach.

>Can’t believe they painted the Peach! The old colour was so much better.

Got a new jacket by Londonfog, it was regularly $120 & got it for $50. I’m always surprised at the deals I find at The Bay.

>$1 toque from Army&Navy.

>Christmas gift from my Mom; My favorite wine^.^

>Nice gift from my boss.

Last night I went over to Vina’s for dinner with Pedram and to help her pack. She left today for Asia. We had some good sushi from Domo Sushi on Bute & Melville. Then got a bottle of wine but had no corkscrew…so googled what would work best. We all knew of the shoe method but didn’t feel up to try it and instead did the old screw and hammer trick-and it worked fine. Next time we’ll try the shoe.

>It worked!

BJORG 2012 Collection

Bjorg 2012 Collection is out! I am amazed by them every time.

The 2012 Collection is a venture through dreamlike landscapes. The inspiration is drawn from mythology and tales, playing with escapist and Romantic fantasies. The collection makes up an odyssey of imagnination, mystique and poetry, switching between dreams and reality, thus welcoming Dark Knights, Pale Moons, Magic Hours and Misty Mountains.

Queenblob

Hi!!!!

My very close friend, Vina Goh, has been working hard on her new jewelry line called Queenblob. I can proudly say that it is complete and the website is now up, so exciting! I can finally share what we’ve been working on for over a month – Queenblob

Her materials consist of: wood, vegetable dye, leather and metal. The metal clasps are hammered to shape by hand. With futuristic beads and tribal inspired designs, Vina provides her wearers with a playful and unique piece of jewelry.

>Merrick

I am honored to have a necklace named after me, using my first and last name Vina came up with Kimron:

>Kimron

“I want to fend people off with blocks of wood.”

>Lethe

“I want my wearer to feel unrestrained and free while signifying a tribal style.”

>Virago

“Someone gave me a necklace from an Ancient Indian tribe. It taught me that there is a ritual to the way we dress.”

>Structa

>Behind the scenes.

>Wearing Queenblob.

So proud of you Vina! (^.^)>oo<(^-^)

November

Hiya!

Sorry for not updating in quite a bit. I’ve been taking morning classes and then working, which is about 11 hours of my day (most days), that doesn’t include homework & social stuff. So the internet has taken a back seat. I find myself functioning better on less sleep, at times, or maybe just simply getting use to it. Ah well, working towards something I am really excited about. Which also includes a project I’m equally excited about, still sorting it out but has led me to think I would like a new SLR.

Plus I’ve been helping my friend Vina, who is coming out with a jewelry line, with getting it together and out there. I like being her business side and helping her each step I can. I think it’s a great line and will be happy to show it as soon as I can!

A few things I’m liking at the moment:

I wish I was in New York and checking out the Maurizio Cattelan exhibition at the Guggenheim. While I was in New York in the summer the Guggenheim was the only Museum I didn’t get to check out that was on my list. Next time!

Halloweeeeen

Happy Halloween!

For Halloween I dressed up as a cat, something that doesn’t take long to get together and had the cat ears. I actually like Halloween and enjoy dressing up, so I don’t know why I don’t put more effort into it. Vina dressed up as John Galliano! Who she thought people would either think she was him or a pirate. She was very pleased when people guessed correctly! David was Harry Potter, pulled it off well, even without the glasses (lost them on the dance floor).

>pre-cat makeup

>Getting the faces on.

>David as Harry Potter. Vina as John Galliano.

>End of the runway pose.

>Kasper was a Lion, Jennifer made an amazing costume for him!

Went shopping and picked up a few new things;

>Black Top.
>Royal Blue Jeans.

>Sheer sides & arms.

>I love anything Ombre but did not buy this sweater.

>H&M’s version of flatforms. Made popular by Robyn.

>Bought at Joe.

>Had a gift certificate from my Birthday to use at Holts.

>Bought 2 new wool blend head turbans.

>Really love this maroon colour. Also bought a seafoam green one.

>2 others I bought last year. $25each.

Rode along the seawall, becoming my Monday ritual, it was very windy!

A friend brought these back from Thailand (I think) and they are so good. Must get more.

I really like what Bjorg is doing in 2011. It’s a Norwegian company run by Bjørg Nordli-Mathisen (designer) & her husband Geir Eriksen. Although the pieces can be compared to Pamela Love, based on the similar subjects, I do think they stand out as their own. Some of my favorites;

>Definitely on my wishlist.

>Nosaj Thing-Quest

>Nosaj Thing-Light 2

>Nosaj Thing-IOIO

>Nosaj Thing-Coat of arms

Have a good week!

Robyn

Vina came over last night, we planned to watch The Notebook & have chocolate mint ice cream, both our favorite! But ended up watching a Robyn documentary and had cookies with chocolate milk & mint chocolate baileys until the early morning.

>Baileys really can go with anything!

>A mixed cd I made for her^_^ No one ever does these anymore..silly? Sometimes its nice to have a cd instead of receiving a zip file.

The documentary followed Robyn through the time when she was putting out 3 albums in one year. Robyn is one of our favorite artists, she has amazing style, a unique sound, been able to remain herself while still growing & transforming herself. Vina & I missed her when she played in Vancouver and I am hoping she comes back soon!

>Her Dad.

>She has the most amazing jewelry!

Since I had today off, I checked out a bead shop on Main & 3rd. There isn’t too many bead shops in Vancouver, Any suggestions? It had alot but not quite what I was looking for. Then headed down to Opus to pick up some supplies for a new project I want to work on and then decided to bike the seawall!
